Fun. Having some issues in the first forest. Most of the exits such as Happy Forest and Salmon Forest don't work. About the only one that does is the one that takes you to the second forest with the pigs. Then the exits in that forest, the town and the maze work fine. It's just the first forest that has issues. Do they open up as you gain quests and XP because I have run out of locations to explore and they still don't work.

splashykarp responds:

Sorry for the delay. The First Forest area has invisible walls until you reach a certain point. There's supposed to be a prompt that let's you know. However, it appears that the prompt is no longer working and I am unsure why it is no longer working.

From what it sounds like you need to go to the castle and talk to the King. He will give you a mission that will unlock the East Exit of Prunina.
-Complete that mission and then head to where the Pig is and the path will open for the next Dungeon area.
-Complete that Dungeon and the path for Salmon Retreat will open.
-At the end of that will be the 3rd Dungeon (Aquanid's Swamp). Finish that.
-You will then have access to the Southern Areas of Goblin Forest.
-Harpy Forest opens up once you complete the 3rd Dungeon.

As for what I remember just beat the 2nd Dungeon and the area should open up to you. We will be putting out a new update here soon that should fix the issue. Just trying to work it out so that save files don't end up deleted.

Hi. I enjoyed this game. I really liked Harold's struggle with pointlessly memorizing passages of text for the knight's code, and while he may not remember the exact fancy words, he understands the spirit of them far better than some actual graduated knights. The story and characters so far were really well done and I hope you finish the game someday.

P.S. Clever (easter egg?) of Harold noting the two maps that looked suspiciously like MV default maps looked "familiar."

Edit: I think the game works fine as is. It probably just got lost in the mix on Newgrounds over time. If you want additional plays/feedback, I would suggest checking out itch.io. Their main calling is its hundreds of game jams which I have found to be a great way to get positive feedback. Most require you to make a game from scratch within a certain time period, but others are specifically for finishing and getting feedback on already started/published games. They even have a pretty prominent RPG Maker community. Here are a couple jams you might like:

Hey KobatoGames :)

I'm glad you like the game. Unfortunately most people don't seem to be too into it so for now I have put it on hold, since it is a bit hard for me to keep my motivation up. I am not sure what I could do to make people more interested. Maybe the story starts off too dull or maybe people get lost since I did not include a quest log? I have been thinking about adding some stronger character traits or other struggles to Harold to make him seem more interesting, but I am not too sure about it. There is a lot of stories I would like to tell but I am not sure if they actually fit in the game.

Yeah you are right, the two maps are edited versions of the tutorial maps. This game actually started off as me going through the tutorial adding some random jokes, but eventually it turned into a more serious game but I decided to leave most of the jokes in it (and continued adding more jokes). Cute Girl/Lea originally started of as a really shallow joke character but eventually I grew to really like her and now i see her as quite the opposite of shallow.

Maybe I will eventually continue the game, but right now I don't really feel like pushing myself to do it, I hope I regain the motivation eventually.

Cool game, but I got stuck at the monkey discussing how to write a good newgrounds post. It will not let me type the apostrophe in "'You know that's an excellent question to bring up," (It cuts off after "'You know that". The sentence before is "Go for it monkey, write something brilliant!"

This bug has been fixed, please refresh your page and you should be able to progress without issue.

This was a fun game. I hope you finish the next chapter :)

SpeedWaveX responds:

Thank you for checking out the game!! Also yeah, it's been quite some time since I had tried working on the additional chapter of this game. I had planned a few different story ideas, but it did get a bit tricky to try and see what worked.

I had the same blackscreen issue talking to the artist as Qump1. It has happened to me every time I have played over the past two days, yet I watched a walkthrough of this game where this issue did not come up, so it is not affecting everyone.

It's unfortunate this sequel has so many bugs, since I really want to finish it. I'll try again another time.

Edit: Glad to hear you found a fix. What a sneaky issue. I had a similar issue once where the software I used would not allow me to have a exclamation point in the game file's name and I did not realize until after I uploaded and people were starting to download it. Yikes!

JoelLikesPigs responds:

Dang sorry to hear that - I've been privately messaged about this too - no idea what creates it at the moment

Any more details - The more details I can get the quicker I can track down the cause :)

UPDATE: - figured it out! just finished uploading a fix - the artist had an "illegal" character on one of their responses - the game didn't know how to handle it so broke - it was only on one of 4 responses so it would only happen 25% of the time so I just missed it - updated the response and it works :)

Good game. Made me want to keep playing and getting better. On a side note, I found it nice that since the letters of "pumpkin" are all pretty near each other on the keyboard, I did not have to jump to the other side every other turn.

blit-blat responds:

Haha, I never realised that pumpkin was all on the right-hand side. Next year I'll release it, but with the word "Halloween" - that'll make it a bit trickier! :P Thanks for playing!
